Hiking with Rex and his Tuesday hiking group is a real treat. I enjoy hikes on the peninsula from 8-12 miles with elevation gains of 2000-2500'. And Rex knows them all.

  • 50 mile endurance walk - The Commute 2012 - San Jose to San Francisco
  • Hike description: The Commute is a 50 mile, 24-hour endurance walk (urban hike) from downtown San Jose to downtown San Francisco along historic Route 82 (The Alameda, El Camino Real and Mission Street). Starting in the morning, participants spend one full day walking (urban hiking) through and experiencing the communities that we often drive past in the rush of our daily commutes. Traveling this easily drivable distance at a human pace is a unique physical and mental challenge. Can you Walk the Commute? This is a paid event. • Bring on the Uphill: Glen Park Canyon to Billy Goat Hill to Bernal Heights
  • Hike description: We will meet at the entrance of the Glen Park BART station. THIS IS AN A-B so we are not ending where we start. We will then hike up Glen Park Canyon to check out the gorgeous vistas and cool rocks. As if that isn\'t enough, we will then head east to find Billy Goat Hill Park. After that we will wander through the Mission toward Bernal Heights. We will find the hidden slide on the side of Bernal Height park before scaling to the top. This is an incredible view of the city. We will then rest our tired feet at a pub in Bernal Heights. MMMM beer! Plenty of buses available for the ride home. This is a long hike but the vistas and company are worth it!
