  • GOING UP: Hiking in Mt Sutro Forest in the Clouds to Twin Peaks and Tank Hill Park loop
  • Hike description: We begin in Cole Valley on the corner of Parnassus and Willard Street.\r\n\r\nHike into Mt Sutro Forest (find the fairy gates) cross Claredon Avenue to Twin Peaks Reservoir toward top of Twin Peaks Summit (usually very windy but an amazing view of the entire city) head downhill to Tank Hill Park then back into Cole Valley where we started!
  • Explore the sand dunes at Fort Funston followed by a walk around Lake Merced
  • Hike description: Getting there: From southbound CA 35 in San Francisco, pass John Muir Drive, then take the first right (signed Fort Funston). Bear right and continue to the parking lot. Meet near hang gliders. Although with the ocean visible at all times you'll never be lost, there's plenty of unpredictability in these dunes. A wrong turn off the main trail might bring you to a dense thicket of willow, with a 5 foot tall passage worn under the branches. This dark secret tunnel delivers you, blinking, back into the bright sunlight of the dunes. It's an Alice in Wonderland kind of experience. Following our adventure in the dunes we will cross the main road and head towards Lake Merced because you know we haven't walked quite enough. Lake Merced is a 4.5 mile loop. Who's in?!
  • End-to-end of Golden Gate Park finishing at Beach Chalet Brewery (it\'s all about balance people)
  • Hike description: We will meet at the Golden Gate Park entrance Haight/Stanyan. Hike through the park exploring Lily Pond, Stow Lake, Strawberry Hill, (there is a free concert for Ukrainian-American Day – Ukranian music, singing & dancing where we can check out for a song) before proceeding to Middle Lake and finally we will end at Great Highway ocean. (You can take the N-Judah back to starting point). This is a one-way hike, however, join us for a beer at Beach Chalet Brewery after with an option to walk back to starting point.
  • Hidden Gems: 3 Unexpected City Parks with Gorgeous Views of the City
  • Hike description: We will meet at Carl/Cole in front of Kezar Bar & Grill. We will then walk to Mt. Olympus (it's an odd little park but you get to climb up some cool stairs), criss cross back to Corona Heights Park (WOW just discovered this gem it has incredible views and feels like you are in the mountains) then of course we need a little more up in the Buena Vista Park (this park rocks and has a multitude of stairs for the extra butt workout). Return to Carl/Cole.
  • Eagle's Point to Land's End: Sutro Baths, a Labrynith and tumultous tides oh my!
  • Hike description: We will start at the corner of 32nd Avenue and El Camino Del Mar and find our way to Land's End...
The Lands End trail meanders past the Legion of Honor, a Labryinth, the Sutro Baths, and along cliffs with beautiful views of the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate Bridge. I have ordered a sunshiney day!

  • View to View: Highest Point Mt Davidson to Prettiest Stairs at Golden Gate Heights
  • Hike description: We will begin at Bus Stop (43) on Miraloma Dr & Marne Ave. Following meeting we will explore Mount Davidson, at 927 feet, it\'s the highest point in San Francisco. This 40 acre park has expansive views so let\'s hope for some sunshine! Following that, we will meander through West Portal toward the Mosaic Stairs at Moraga/15th Avenue. At the top of this gorgeous stairway is Golden Gate Heights. This is one of the most spectacular views of the city. We will end in the Inner Sunset...
  • GOING UP: Hiking in Mt Sutro Forest in the Clouds to Twin Peaks and Tank Hill Park loop
  • Hike description: We begin in Cole Valley on the corner of Parnassus and Willard Street. Hike into Mt Sutro Forest (find the fairy gates) cross Claredon Avenue to Twin Peaks Reservoir toward top of Twin Peaks Summit (usually very windy but an amazing view of the entire city) head downhill to Tank Hill Park then back into Cole Valley where we started! Have Victory Beer at Kezar Bar for doing such a good job on the hike!
  • Ready, aim, FIRE! In search of Cannons and a Tiki Bar
  • Hike description: We will begin at the Arguello entrance of the Presidio and take Ecology trail to officers row where there is a cannon display. We then head to the coast and Chrissy Field to see live gigantic cannons facing the ocean under the Golden Gate Bridge. Following that we will go back towards Baker Beach for a final Cannon viewing. We will then rest our exhausted selves at a Tiki Bar on Geary Boulevard.
  • Post-Holiday Walk it Off: Panhandle to Tower to Stow Lake to Beer
  • Hike description: We will walk through the Panhandle toward entrance of Golden Gate Park. We'll walk through the Conservatory of Flowers. Then, let's go up to the top of the deYoung tower and take in an overview of the city (it's free and open on Sundays). Then we will meander around Stow Lake and of course I love to go uphill so we will go up Strawberry Hill. We will end our hike at 9th Avenue and have a beer at Social Brewery (they have a good IPA!)
  • Climb Up: Two for one uphill Glen Canyon Park and Twin Peaks (and of course a cold beer reward)
  • Hike description: We will meet outside the Glen Park BART station entrance. From there we will walk towards Glen Canyon Park. It is a city park that occupies about 70 acres along a deep canyon adjacent to the Glen Park, Diamond Heights, and Miraloma Park neighborhoods. It has a nice uphill climb. After exploring the park we will walk across Portola Drive to Twin Peaks. Yup. it\'s a two-for-one uphill adventure. After seeing the view on top of Twin Peaks I am sure we will be quite parched so we will descend and walk to West Portal for a frosty beverage. This is a point A to point B so plan accordingly for transportation.
  • Search For Holiday Spirit Hike: WALK ACROSS THE CITY toward Hot Cocoa with Peppermint Schnapps
  • Hike description: We will meet at the Golden Gate Park entrance on Stanyan/Haight Street across from Whole Foods. We will then proceed to walk across the city in search of the hollerday spirit and splendor and end at Union Square where we will find a cozy place to sip on Hot Cocoa with Peppermint Schnapps. mmmmmm it will be a lovely end to your weekend with a little exercise thrown in too!
  • Stairs, Coit Tower and Rogue Ale, Oh MY!
  • Hike description: We will meet outside in front of Gott's Restaurant at the Ferry Building. We will then proceed along the Embarcadero to the Filbert Steps, the stairs are impressive for their length, their wonderful views of San Francisco, the well tended gardens on either side, and the beautiful art deco buildings along the way. One of the most spectacular buildings features three-story high reliefs of San Francisco. Nearby are the equally amazing Greenwich Street Stairs too! Afterwards, we will check out the murals at Coit Tower. We will then proceed into North Beach to the Rogue Ale Brewery for our reward ~ and of course to catch the end of the 49ers vs Saints football game!!!!!
  • Land's End, Ocean Beach and Tiki Haven in the Outer Sunset oh yeah come get your hike on!
  • Hike description: We will meet at Camino del Mar Land's End entrance (32nd Avenue and El Camino Del Mar.) We will then walk along the sea cliff (of course we will check out the labrynith) and then we'll pass Sutro Baths head down to Ocean Beach. This hike is scheduled later so we can check out the SUNSET. After walking along the ocean's edge we will venture into the Outer Sunset to Tiki Haven on Noriega Street between 20th & 21st street. Nothing like a tropical drink on a cold San Francisco night. No Hawaiian shirts necessary.
  • 3 Peak Parks and a Pub (say that 3 times fast!)
  • Hike description: You know I love me some uphill so here we go...Mt Sutro Forest to Corona Heights Park to Buena Vista Park to a pub on Haight Street. Come on get your uphill on. Its going to be a buns of steel tour but the reward is a frosty beverage in a warm pub.
  • View to View and Darts too: Highest Point Mt Davidson to Prettiest Stairs at Golden Gate Heights
We will end in the Inner Sunset...for a frosty beverage and maybe a Dart game or two! THIS IS AN A TO B think about that in terms of transportation.
  • Let's get lost in the Presidio then have a pbr and play skee ball
  • Hike description: Let's wander around the Presidio through Ecology Trail towards the Palace of Fine Arts and Chrissy Field then return back through the Presidio and end at the Buckshot on Geary for Skee Ball and PBRs.
  • Park -n- Pub: A walk across Golden Gate Park in search of bison, beauty and a beer
  • Hike description: We will meet at Golden Gate Park 45th Avenue Playground which is on Lincoln Way and 45th Avenue. We will then proceed into the park and through the chain of lakes and then to see our friends the Bison then along JFK to Stow Lake and Conservatory of Flowers (oooh look pretty flowers) then out to Stanyan where we will partake in a tasty cold beverage at the Kezar Pub (they have food too). This is an A to B so think about that when getting to the A. Also The N is not running a train on Sunday it is a bus so there is that.
  • An Easter Hill Hike that ends with a Hunky Jesus contest -- sweet!
  • Hike description: It's Easter so we might as well take a stroll through Sutro Forest past the Fairy Gates then up to Corona Heights Park to check out the spectacular views and then end up at Delores Park just in time for the Hunky Jesus Contest! I'm thinking bringing your own adult beverages and a blanket for the park might be a sweet idea...justsayin.
  • Bring on the Uphill: Glen Park Canyon to Billy Goat Hill to Bernal Heights
  • Hike description: We will meet at the entrance of the Glen Park BART station. THIS IS AN A-B so we are not ending where we start. We will then hike up Glen Park Canyon to check out the gorgeous vistas and cool rocks. As if that isn\'t enough, we will then head east to find Billy Goat Hill Park. After that we will wander through the Mission toward Bernal Heights. We will find the hidden slide on the side of Bernal Height park before scaling to the top. This is an incredible view of the city. We will then rest our tired feet at a pub in Bernal Heights. MMMM beer! Plenty of buses available for the ride home. This is a long hike but the vistas and company are worth it!
  • This hike is brought to you by the apostrophe: Land's End to Trad'r Sam
  • Hike description: We will meet at Land's End Trailhead entrance 32nd Avenue and El Camino del Mar. We will then walk along the gorgeous Land's End trail...overlook some impressive cliffs...check out the USS memorial...walk to the Labryinth...peek into the cave at Sutro Baths...go up to Sutro Heights Park then head back to Geary to Trad'r Sam to get our Tiki on! This is an A-B.
  • Check out this hike: Parks and Boats, Stairs and a Tower, Baseball and Beer
  • Hike description: We will meet in front of the Marina Branch Library (1890 Chestnut Street -- bus stops 43, 22). We will then head toward the Marina Green. Explore Fort Mason Green. Walk along the waterfront. Check out Hyde Street Pier. Super cool Maritime stuff. You know I need a hill now so we will go up the Greenwich steps to Coit Tower. WE WILL MEET A TIGER. Then back to the Embarcadero. We will proceed to AT&T park where I heard you can see a bit of the game from the back of the park for free. We will then end at the 21st Amendment for a much needed beer! Yippee for us!

This is an A-B hike. We will not return to the beginning of the hike. Plan appropriately.
  • We hike because FUN is already in the name: Fort FUNston to Lake Merced to Riptide
After that, I know we will be quite parched so we will make our way to the Riptide for a tasty beverage...or two. Who's in?!
  • There's a Whole Lotta Walking Going On: Lands End to Golden Gate Bridge to Liverpool Lil's
  • Hike description: We will meet in front of the Lands End Visitors Center. We will then follow Land's End Trail to Camino del Mar. We'll check out some awesome houses along the cliff. Turning onto Lincoln Boulevard, we'll walk along the cliffs with hints of that beautiful bridge. There is a new observation area and we can view Battery Godfrey and Battery Boutelle. We will cross under the freeway and see THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE. Those who are tired can catch a bus back to the starting point. Those that want to continue we will walk to Crissy Field past the Palace of Fine Arts and end up at Liverpool Lil's for food and beverages! This is an A to B. This is a long hike. This will be fun.
  • Celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of GOING UP: 4 Peaks and a Pub
  • Hike description: Come celebrate the first anniversary of the first hike.... We begin in Cole Valley on the corner of Parnassus and Willard Street. Hike into Mt Sutro Forest (find the fairy gates) cross Claredon Avenue to Twin Peaks Reservoir toward top of Twin Peaks Summit (usually very windy but an amazing view of the entire city) head downhill to Tank Hill Park over to Buena Vista Park for our final lookie loo then to Kezar Pub for a much deserved beer or two!
  • Concrete Ups and Dirt Paths: Walk across the city and through the Presidio too
  • Hike description: We are starting earlier cause it's football season and you know I'm obsessed. Meet on Broadway and Columbus in front of New Sun Hong Kong Restaurant. From there we will stroll across the city taking in the breathtaking views along Broadway. This is a fabulous amount of up. It is also a lot of city streets walking so we will end up in the Presidio walking in nature and smelling the yummy Eucalyptus and wandering on this really cool path. We will leave through the Arguello Gate and go have beers and watch the Redskins pre-season game at Pizza Orgasmica. Now if that doesn't sound like a perfect afternoon I don't know what else could be! This is an A-B so be aware of this.
  • Park-n-Beer: hike across Golden Gate Park to Beach Chalet
  • Hike description: We will meet at the Golden Gate Park entrance Haight/Stanyan. Hike through the park exploring Lily Pond, Stow Lake, Strawberry Hill proceed to Middle Lake check out the Bison and finally we will end at Great Highway ocean. (You can take the N-Judah back to starting point). This is a one-way hike, however, a much much better idea would be to relax on the lawn and join us for a beer at Beach Chalet Brewery. I'll bring a blanket. Perhaps you should too for maximum relaxation. Ah!
  • Aloha! Land's End to Marshall Beach to Tiki Bar
  • Hike description: We will begin at the Land's End Visitors Center. We will then check out Sutro Baths, the Labrynith, Baker Beach, China Beach and then the now open path down to Marshall Beach (its AWESOME right along the cliffs!) we'll then turn around and head back to the Trad'r Sam (a fabu tiki bar!)
