Hike Description:

Great for ALL LEVELS of hiker! The hike stats above are unspecified because hikers are encouraged to do any portion of the hike, stopping to do other city-things when they've had enough, or catching a bus or calling a cab--you can even join us along the way if you call and track us down en route.
A popular favorite, we sample all the great views from San Francisco's central hills, exploiting Mike's years exploring SF on foot to bring you a smorgasbord of hidden stairways, surprising woodsiness, little known neighborhood pathways and even an (optional) block-long slide! The entire loop encompasses every kind of city and park terrain, some quite steep, much flat, for 13 miles and goes from Bernal Hill to Holly Park, Glen Canyon, Mount Davidson, Twin Peaks, Tank Hill, Mt. Olympus, the Pemberton, Vulcan and Saturn Steps, and Corona Heights with the Castro, Dolores Park, the Mission and the wild murals of Clarion Alley on the way back to Bernal. This will be the fifth time Mike has led this hike.
The route is similar to this google map: http://tinyurl.com/6v5893m

Recommended Clothing:

Light Layers, good shoes for pavement, trails and steps. Sneakers are fine, as are hiking boots. Last time some folks in porous running shoes were distressed when the trail got muddy in Glen Canyon... mud could happen again!

Recommended Food:

A gazillion options along the way, we generally stop at the top of Market Street, where there is a burrito place, pizza, cafe, the Tower Market, Starbucks...

Cancellation Condition:

Monsoon

Dogs Allowed:

Yes

So sorry for anyone keen on coming who can't make a Saturday; the date change was my only option. The hike is March 31st!

Don't be put off by cool, rainy weather. This can mean greener greens, less-sweaty hill climbs and crystal clear views!

THE HIKE IS ON! Bring a waterproof windbreaker and enjoy a special SF experience with us!
