This 9 miles loop hike has about 1000 FEET of elevation and brings us to the beautiful redwoods of Santa Cruz county. This hike is in the NORTHERN part of Henry Cowell Redwoods SP. The terrain is rugged and there are NO FACILITIES, so be prepared! Keep in mind that the distance and elevation will make this a somewhat challenging hike. If you are new to hiking, please consider a different hike for your first time out with us.

Facilities are limited so be sure to bring WATER, snacks and an extra layer (like a windbreaker)

The roads to this trailhead are scenic, windy, and can be slow. Drive safely and plan on some extra driving time on hike morning.

CARPOOLS:

Fewer cars at the trail head is always happiness. Meetup does not organize carpools; however we are a friendly group with lots of folks who are interested in sharing rides. If you'd like to offer a ride, please leave a comment in your RSVP letting folks know where you're coming from and how many spaces there are. If you'd like to ride as a passenger, it is YOUR JOB to check the website RSVP list and contact any of the nice people offering a ride to see if they still have a space for you. If you're a passenger and your plans change, please be sure to let the driver know.

DIRECTIONS:

From CA 17 in Santa Clara County, drive southwest. In Scotts Valley, exit Mount Hermon Road. Drive northwest on Mount Hermon Road about 3.5 miles. When Mount Hermon Road ends at Graham Hill Road, turn right. After just 0.1 mile, Graham Hill Road ends at a traffic light at CA 9 in Felton. Continue straight on Felton Empire Road. Drive about 0.6 mile on Felton Empire Road, and turn right into the poorly signed trail head.
