  • Hike description: VP hikers, Steve and Bruce are out of town this weekend, so we will be joining Conley with the Wasatch Mountain Club for their easy flower hike in Collins Gulch, Little Cottonwood Canyon. Berry Quin will be your leader and flower expert. DOGS: Not allowed DIFFICULTY: Easy hike and taking our time viewing flowers. NTD hike. ELEVATION GAIN: N/A ROUND TRIP MILES: about 5 miles (in and out type hike) LUNCH WITH A VIEW: Don't forget to bring a lunch, sunscreen and water. MEETING and LEAVING AT 10:00 A.M. (come 15 minutes early to socialize) We are meeting at Little Cottonwood Canyon Park-n-Ride.   • Hike description: VP hikers, This is for the following Sunday. Hiking to Mt. Raymond, Big Cottonwood Canyon.   • Ruth Lake to Lofty Lake in Utah
  • Hike description: VP hikers, This Saturday we are hiking the beautiful Uintas, for the last time this hiking season. This will be a one-way hike from Ruth Lake to Lofty Lake. Bring a jacket, rain gear so your prepared for any weather. Plan on a longer day because of the drive time. DOGS: Are welcome, but you will need to drive your hairy friend to the trailhead.   • Hike description: VP hikers, This Sunday we are hiking to Big Mountain, up East Canyon. The trail could be muddy and you might consider bring an extra pair of shoes or plastic bags to cover muddy boots in the car.   • Hike description: VP hikers, This Sunday we are hiking to Mount Aire, in Millcreek Canyon. This is the trail hikers have reported a moose chasing them. Lets hope we see him from a distance. We could encounter mud on the trail, so bring a extra pair of shoes to keep the cars clean. We will have a longer lunch, as this hike is shorter then most.   • Hike description: VP hikers, This Sunday is a special surprise birthday party for Norm. Phyllis Anderson and Cheryl Soshnik have dreamed up a fun day for Norm and us at Green's Basin, in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Norm doesn't have email, so he won't see this and his wife will make sure he is hiking Sunday. OUR GROUP WILL BE MEETING and LEAVING AT 9:30 A.M.   • Hike description: VP hikers, This Sunday Bruce and Conley will be leading a snowshoe at Aspin Grove Trailhead, up Provo Canyon, Bruce will take you past two waterfalls. Make sure you have snowshoes and spikes. DOGS ARE ALLOWED: You will need to drive you and your hairy friend to the trailhead.   • Hike description: VP hikers, Lets give our snowshoes a break and do a hike on Stansbury Island. We are doing the loop hike past the Fremont Indian Rock Art. If you have never seen the art, its well worth seeing. The island is a peaceful place to just take in the beauty of the Great Salt Lake on a cool Fall day. I don't expect mud on our route, but you might want to bring grocery bags to cover your shoes in the car. Bruce may offer a snowshoe Sunday and if he does, I will post that later.   • Window Rock Trail in Utah
  • Hike description: VP hikers, This Sunday Bruce Moore is leading you up to Window Rock, in the Corner Canyon area above Draper. There will be some light bush whacking for 1 mile and possible mudd/snow on the trail. You don't need snowshoes, but do bring spikes if you have them (but not necessary). We will resume snowshoeing when conditions improve. WEATHER ISSUES: Weather should be ok and we might even get above the inversion. DOGS: Sorry, NO Dogs allowed.
