  • Hike at Annadel State Park, Lawndale Rd Trailhead
  • Hike description: Annadel State Park is near Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. This is a loop hike on the Kenwood side of Annadel, starting from the Lawndale Rd trailhead. We'll hike up the Lawndale Trail to Ledson Marsh, then take the Marsh Trail to the junction with Two Quarry Trail where we'll have lunch. After lunch we'll continue on the Marsh Trail past Buick Meadow to the Ridge Trail which will take us back around the marsh. We'll take the Schultz Trail down to Schultz Rd, then hike down the road to get back to the Lawndale Trailhead. You can optionally shorten the hike to 6 or 7 miles by turning back from the marsh or lunch spot. Sorry, dogs are not allowed on the trails at Annadel. See the pictures from last year: http://picasaweb.google.com/qlobata/EastAnnadelHike02# Annadel State Park brochure with trail map in .pdf format, the last page shows the area of our hike: http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/480/files/ANNADELSP2.pdf Trailhead Directions: From Santa Rosa, drive east on Hwy 12 towards K...

  • Walk on Chiquita Rd
  • Hike description:
  • Paddle Lake Sonoma
  • Hike description: *** UPDATE: I have 20 people coming so far. *** This is a 10 mile round trip paddle, from Yorty Creek to the end of the Dry Creek Arm, where we'll pull up to a beach and have a picnic. Then we'll do a 2 mile round trip hike to the waterfall and go for a swim. You need to bring your own canoe or kayak, meet at Yorty Creek boat ramp at 9:30. There may be a launch fee. We will start paddling by 10:00. Last year it took us about 2 hrs to get to the lunch spot. No carpools since we have to transport our boats, but do catch a ride with a friend if you can. If you enjoy paddling and have your own kayak check out the Petaluma Paddlers. They are a very active and friendly bunch. Please bring lunch, plenty of water, a snack, and sun protection. Wear layers, it may be cool in the morning but it's going to warm up to 85 degrees. You'll want to go swimming, we'll probably swim in the lake and at the waterfall. Wear shoes or sandals suitable for wading and making the 2 mile round trip h...
  • Hike to Sculptured Beach/Pt Resistance at Pt Reyes
  • Hike description: Join North Bay Hikes for this special outing, hike leader is Nick Kishmirian. Note that the start time is 6:30 am due to the tide. This out and back beach hike goes from Limantour Beach to Sculptured Beach, Secret Beach and to Pt. Resistance. We're taking advantage of a minus .8 ft tide which will expose the beautiful rock formations of Sculptured Beach, including arches and caves. Getting to the good part of Sculptured Beach and Secret Beach requires a scramble down/up a 10' cliff. See these photos to get a good idea what to expect: https://picasaweb.google.com/qlobata/SculpturedBeachDoOver This hike should be over by 11:00 so you will have time to do your afternoon thing. OPTION: Hang out at Limantour Beach for a picnic lunch. Restrooms are available at the start at Limantour Beach. Wear removable layers, as it may be cold on the beach. You may want to bring an extra pair of shoes and socks as your feet may get wet at Sculptured Beach or you can just walk back on the sand...
